ScotRail adds new Ayrshire Sunday services

ScotRail has announced a range of timetable changes which will come into effect from Sunday, May 17, including additional weekend services affecting Ayrshire routes. Among the updates is a new Sunday evening return service between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock, alongside an additional 8.15am Sunday train from Ayr to Glasgow Central. Custody suite closure sparks policing concerns

Police Scotland has confirmed that the custody suite at Kilmarnock police office has been temporarily closed since October last year. The closure leaves Saltcoats as the only operational custody centre currently available within Ayrshire. Councillor James Adams, who represents Kilmarnock West and Crosshouse, said officers have reportedly had to travel as far as Dundee, Greenock and Glasgow to process arrests when local facilities are unavailable. Kayleigh Brown heads to Finland with Team GB

Ayrshire athlete Kayleigh Brown from Maybole is representing Great Britain this week as she competes in the Boccia Challenger event in Pujalahti, Finland. The tournament marks the first competition of the season and features 88 athletes from 20 countries. It is also Kayleigh’s return to the sport following maternity leave. Sir David Attenborough celebrates 100th birthday

Prestwick Cricket Club teen designs Scotland World Cup shirt

A 13-year-old from Prestwick is heading to the world stage after designing Scotland’s new cricket shirt. Millie Chaudhary from Prestwick Cricket Club won a national Cricket Scotland competition, beating hundreds of entries. Her design will be worn for the first time when Scotland face Ireland at Old Trafford on Saturday June 13.
