East Ayrshire Council is urging residents to stay vigilant following reports of suspected scammers posing as council workers in an attempt to gain access to people's homes. Ayrshire College has received national recognition after winning the UK Training Provider Skills Champion award at the Enginuity Skills Awards 2026 The award ceremony, held in London on July ,1 recognised their Supporting the Engineering & Aerospace Skills Pipeline for Ayrshire initiative helping to connect industry, education and public sector partners to address skills shortages. Ayrshire College says the programme has improved opportunities for learners through pre-apprenticeships, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships, while also supporting local employers.

Historic buildings across South Ayrshire have been added to SAVE Britain’s Heritage’s Buildings at Risk register, highlighting concerns over some of the area's most significant landmarks.
