The Ayrshire public have been sharing their views on this year’s International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight, with organisers describing the weekend as an “incredible” success.
The aviation showpiece at Ayr’s Low Green hosted family entertainment and activities across Friday 4 September and Saturday 5 September, as spectators watched aerial displays sweep along the Ayrshire coastline.
Aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, RAF Falcons and headliners the Red Arrows took to the skies, with one social media user describing the event as a “hugely successful” couple of days.
South Ayrshire Council thanked those who attended in a social media post, with a number of positive comments shared in response.
One spectator said: “What an amazing experience. The show, the set up, stalls, rides, you have catered for everyone in every situation. This has been the best, most organised experience and cannot wait to bring out family and friends next year.”
Another visitor, who travelled from Fife, praised the views across the coastline, saying: “The views of the planes with Arran and Heads of Ayr in the background are hard to beat in my eyes. Lovely to see so many families together looking up at the skies.”
A further comment described the event as “one of the best organised free events” the person had attended, praising the Armed Forces Village and Classic Cars displays. They added that while parts of the seafront were “very busy and crammed” during the displays, they found the quiet zone less crowded and said they would “definitely repeat next year”.
Some social media users raised concerns about parking arrangements around Ayr, with transport and traffic management being described as “poorly organised”.
This year’s Festival of Flight was the fourth edition to be held since the event’s 2023 revival, following a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and funding issues.
South Ayrshire Council has yet to reveal spectator figures for this year’s event as more than 260,000 people attended the 2025 edition.
The Festival Village at the Low Green featured interactive attractions including a Red Arrows simulator, a new zip line and a drone soccer arena.
