An Irvine-based dog groomer has received national recognition at a major industry awards ceremony. Denver Johnson, who runs Dapper Dawgs Grooming, was named Salon Based Dog Groomer of the Year for the west and central region at the National Pet Awards Scotland.
The awards took place at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday, April 18, celebrating professionals across the Scottish pet industry. Denver, who was nominated by her clients and won following a public vote, thanked her supporters and the wider Ayrshire community for their backing.
The people of Ayrshire are being encouraged to "build stronger communities" in a special week this summer to support local businesses. Scotland Loves Local Week 2026 is taking place between 13 June to 20 June, with Scotland's Towns Partnership championing the message in the region to "chose local".
