Driver charged for 130mph offence on A78

A driver has been arrested after allegedly being caught travelling at 130 miles per hour on the A78 near Irvine.

Ayrshire Road Policing officers were carrying out speed checks on Saturday 26 September when they stopped a vehicle.

Police Scotland Ayrshire said the 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged with a number of alleged offences, including dangerous driving, driving on a provisional licence while unsupervised and driving without insurance.

He was also charged with possession of Class B drugs and was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday 28 September .
