Former Ayr Hourstons building blaze breakout

A fire has broken out in the last few hours at the former Hourstons building in Ayr.

Emergency services have been called to the scene at the vacant site in the town centre as the incident unfolded earlier this evening.

Road closures are in place at the building’s location on Alloway Street, therefore cutting off access to the top of Ayr High Street, and Dalblair Road.

Traffic is being directed down nearby Miller Road and Burns Square Statue as fire crews continue to tackle the fire.

Ayr’s Hourstons branch closed its doors for the final time back in 2019 after 100 years in business, and has lain empty since.
