An Ayrshire golfer has completed a remarkable endurance challenge at The Gailes in Irvine, raising money for local causes. Sean Thorburn, originally from Ayr, set out to hit a golf ball the full length of Scotland in a single day.
Starting at 6.30am on Wednesday, April 1, he struck a total of 2,338 balls over 15 hours, finishing late that evening. Despite fatigue and physical strain, he completed the challenge and raised £1,600, which will be shared between South Ayrshire Foodbank and Wheels in Motion in Ayr.
A new pedestrian crossing is set to be installed on High Street in Stewarton, at the junction with Hamilton Gardens. The project will go ahead following the completion of nearby Scottish Water works, with the aim of improving road safety and access to the local GP surgery. Stewarton Initiatives has been credited for its role in progressing the plans through the Community Action Plan.
Community art sessions in Kilwinning continue to run weekly, offering a welcoming and inclusive space for local residents.
