A garden centre in South Ayrshire has announced its closure for the “foreseeable future” following an early morning fire.
The blaze was reported in the early hours of Monday morning at Hayes Garden Land in Symington causing destruction to the centre and its café.
People in Ayrshire reacted to the news on social media with some believing it is an “awful and tragic” incident to happen to “an amazing team of staff and owners”.
A spokesperson from the centre said: “We regret to inform that we will be CLOSED for the foreseeable future – the Garden Centre and the Café have burned down.”
The business located near the Bogend Toll, just off the A77 South, was developed by Peter Hayes and son Michael in 1988 as the 7th family generation of “horticultural enthusiasts”.
