Council warns of parking scam

South Ayrshire Council has issued a warning after reports of scam messages claiming to be parking fines from the local authority.

The council is reminding residents that Ayrshire Roads Alliance does not issue parking fines or penalty notices by text message.

Official correspondence is normally sent by post and will contain detailed information including the date and time of issue, the vehicle registration, location and penalty charge notice number.

Residents are being urged not to click on links contained in unexpected text messages and to remain cautious of communications from unknown sources.
