Two Ayr United directors have spoken of their unforgettable journey across the Atlantic after flying to the United States in a single-engine aircraft.

Chairman David Smith and vice-chairman Fraser Macintyre travelled to Boston in the plane nicknamed “Ayr Force One”, making stops in Iceland, Greenland and Canada over a 22 hour trip.

Speaking after the journey, both men described the experience as “mindblowing”, with Macintyre highlighting the dramatic scenery and unique airstrips encountered along the route.

The pair made the trip to attend Scotland’s World Cup group matches and said they were delighted to meet familiar faces from Ayr and Somerset Park during their time in the USA.
