The North Ayrshire Commonwealth Baton Relay has completed its journey to Arran ahead of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026.

The baton crossed to the island on Thursday, May 28 aboard the V COAST Explorer research vessel with support from the Community of Arran Seabed Trust and Arran Outdoor Education Centre.

Pupils from Fairlie Primary School formally handed the baton over to Whiting Bay Primary and Arran High School during a celebration at Largs Marina attended by Provost Anthea Dickson and Councillor Alan Hill.

The relay will continue around Arran before finishing at Irvine Royal Academy on June 18 as part of North Ayrshire’s Playground to Podium campaign.
