The Met Office has issued advice for the people of Scotland for staying safe during a yellow snow and ice warning today, with Ayrshire being affected.
It has been alerted that road and railway disruptions are “likely” and people are being asked to prepare for the wintery conditions.
Inland areas such as the Doon Valley and Garnock Valley could see snow, along with rain, with the warning in place later this afternoon.
On their website, the Met Office said: “In addition to the snow temperatures will fall quickly, and this is likely to lead to ice on untreated surfaces.
“Snowy, wintery weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous.
“Keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey. Check for road closures or delays to public transport and amend plans if necessary.”
Items such as an ice scraper, a warning triangle, and a high visibility vest are essential in times of driving delays, according to the Met Office.
People walking on foot during this icy spell are urged to leave their house “five minutes earlier than normal” to reduce the risks of accidents, slips, and falls.
The yellow warning comes into force across Ayrshire and the rest of Scotland from 4pm today and lasting until midday tomorrow.
