The Drunken Coo Steakhouse in Ayr is temporarily closing for two days to allow for a full carpet refurbishment. The closure takes place on Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11. The restaurant says the work forms part of a wider refurbishment project aimed at improving the venue. It is due to reopen at 9am on Wednesday, August 12.
Ayr author Alasdair Wham has raised £200 for Ayrshire Cancer Support following the launch of his new novel, Life is a Lie. The charity provides support to individuals and families affected by cancer across Ayrshire. Alasdair donated £1 from every book sold during the launch night, while also auctioning a proof copy of the novel and holding a raffle. Ayrshire Cancer Support thanked him for his continued support and generosity.
A Night at the Musicals will take place at The Gaiety Theatre in Ayr on Thursday, August 27. The performance will celebrate West End and Broadway musical theatre, with songs from shows including Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and Wicked. The cast includes Sarah Galbraith, Ciara Flynn, Neil Thomas and Natalie Arle-Toyne, who all have musical theatre experience. The show begins at 7.30pm, with tickets available to purchase online.

The Dundonald Highland Games brought together residents and visitors for a colourful celebration of Scottish tradition at the weekend. The event was officially opened by South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell on Saturday, August 1, alongside Depute Provost Mary Kilpatrick. Throughout the day, crowds enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment including a parade, pipe band performances and traditional Highland Games competitions.
