North Ayrshire Council has launched a public consultation on potential budget cuts for next year, as the local authority faces a financial gap of up to £8.3 million in 2027.

Among the proposals is a reduction of 13 teaching posts across North Ayrshire schools from August 2027.

The council says the reduction would be managed through normal workforce planning, including not filling vacancies, while maintaining the current ratio of teachers to pupils.

Other proposals include a three per cent increase in some council fees and charges, covering marriages, hall lets, licensing and planning applications.

Cuts to the Active Schools budget and a review of costs within the Employability and Skills service are also being considered.
