Ayrshire set for mini heatwave

Ayrshire is expected to enjoy a spell of exceptionally warm weather this week, with temperatures forecast to rise into the high twenties and low thirties.

Forecasters predict temperatures will reach around 25 degrees on Tuesday before remaining in the mid-twenties on Wednesday.

The hottest conditions are expected on Thursday, when temperatures could reach 30 degrees in North Ayrshire and as high as 32 degrees in South and East Ayrshire.

The warm weather comes as the UK prepares for what could be one of the hottest periods of the year so far.

Residents are being encouraged to stay hydrated, use sunscreen and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
