Doon Academy teacher wins inaugural award

A teacher at Doon Academy in Dalmellington has been recognised for his work helping young people develop important life skills.

Steven Kelly has become the first East Ayrshire teacher to receive the inaugural Gen+ Award, presented by Scottish charity Gen+.

The award recognises educators who are committed to developing the skills identified by the Curriculum for Excellence as essential for learning, life and work.

Mr Kelly received the honour following the successful delivery of a range of Gen+ programmes to S1 to S3 pupils as school leaders praised the wider staff for embracing innovative learning approaches.
