Participants in an annual Ayrshire run have been praised for their “incredible effort” in the event, which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year.
Roon The Toon in Kilmarnock ran on Sunday 7 June, starting from the town’s Athletics Arena with its 10km route stretching to Gargieston and the town centre.
Supporters of families and individuals taking on the run lined the streets of the East Ayrshire town, spurring them on to the finish line of the “well organised” event.
Social media came alight in the aftermath of the run, with “community spirit” being shown by everyone who contributed.
With over 100 members showcasing their fitness on Sunday, Ayrshire gym The Strength Sanctuary believes that all participants’ achievements deserve recognition.
A spokesperson from TSS said: “A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support. The encouragement from our members and the wider Kilmarnock community made a real difference to those out on the course.
“Days like today are what health and fitness should all be about. We are incredibly proud of every single person who took part.”
The Killie Community also joined in with their appreciation for the running efforts, with mascot Captain Conker embracing his athleticism.
A Facebook post read: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Your support means so much, and there’s still time to donate if you’d like to help.
“A special thank you for supporting Conker every step of the way and making sure he got over the finish line. He truly wouldn’t have made it through without you, the teamwork was incredible to see.”

Roon the Toon has seen record numbers ranging from around 1000 to 2000 runners per year since the event first started back in 2016.
The route starts and finishes at Ayrshire Athletics Arena on Kilmarnock’s Queens Drive and those completing the run receive rewards such as a great race medal and free ticket to home game at Killie.
