An inspiring Ayrshire photographer has shared a sponsored walk appeal in helping a friend to beat breast cancer.

Caitlyn McDonald, known as Caitlyn McDonald Photography, is helping to push the fundraiser event for Rachel Borthwick, who has experienced reoccurring diagnosis’.

McDonald, who has Autism and Auditory Processing Disorder, was praised this week for her “inspiring” nature photography, and will be capturing the walk in aid of Borthwick.

The Ardrossan-based photographer believes that coming together can help a “beautiful friend” and her family at an incredibly difficult time.

A Facebook post from McDonald read: “I wanted to share this to help support Rachel and her family. Coming together as a community can make a real difference, and this is a lovely way to show care, strength, and solidarity.

“I’ll be there capturing images of the walk to help document the day, highlight the incredible community support, and support awareness through sharing.

“Thank you for walking with us, supporting Rachel, and being part of something really special.”

Sarah Borthwick, Rachel’s sister, responded to McDonald sharing the appeal on social media saying it “means the world”.

On her GoFundMe page, she said: “I wanted to start this to help raise money for alternative medicine and to alleviate some of the pressure and stress she is facing as she is unable to work due to previous surgery as well as upcoming harsh treatment.

“Any help, little or large would be greatly appreciated.

“I would just like to thank every single person who has shared, donated and offered help in every other way. This means the world to Rachel, her kids and all of our family.”

The sponsored walk for Borthwick takes place on Sunday 22 February at Strathclyde Country Park and is “open to everyone” as mentioned by photographer McDonald.

Anyone wishing to donate to help the cause can so here.
