Concerns have been raised over the condition of roads in Troon after no resurfacing projects were approved for the area in the latest round of South Ayrshire Council upgrades. SNP councillor Craig Mackay criticised the decision, claiming the town’s streets are being “forgotten about.”

The criticism comes despite ongoing investment in road improvements across the wider region. Data shows that more than 6,000 potholes have been reported in South Ayrshire over the past four years, with numbers peaking in 2024. Councillor Mackay warned that failing to address deteriorating roads now could lead to higher costs in the future.
