A protest was held in Kilmarnock against plans for a proposed data centre near Hunterston Castle in North Ayrshire.

Members of the Reject Hunterston Data Centre campaign gathered outside the Park Hotel on Wednesday 30 September, while Eneus Energy, the company behind the plans, hosted a stall as part of a business event.

The campaign group says the proposed development, which would be located near the 800-year-old site, could affect the area’s heritage, landscape and biodiversity.

Eneus Energy says the scheme is still at an early stage and is being designed as a sustainable, low-carbon data centre, with potential employment for the local area.
