Council issue workers scam warning

East Ayrshire Council is urging residents to stay vigilant following reports of suspected scammers posing as council workers in an attempt to gain access to people’s homes.

The council says genuine improvement works are always communicated in advance and legitimate contractors will never arrive unannounced.

All authorised workers should carry official identification, which residents are encouraged to ask to see before allowing anyone into their property.

Anyone who is unsure about a caller is being advised not to let them in and to contact East Ayrshire Council for advice.
