South Ayrshire Council says it remains “committed” to finding a solution for the former Ayr Station Hotel, which has remained derelict following a devastating fire in 2023.

The historic building was partially demolished due to safety concerns, while ongoing legal battles with the owner have prevented further progress.

Calls have been made for the council to use compulsory purchase order (CPO) powers to take control of the site, which forms part of Ayr railway station.

Ayr MSP Siobhian Brown has now called on the council to utilise proposed new Scottish Government legislation around CPOs.
