NHS Ayrshire and Arran in Budget boost

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is set for "record" funding after the latest Scottish Budget announcement for 2026-27. The plan published yesterday, 13 January, by the Scottish Government outlined that NHS boards in Scotland will receive £17.6 billion in funding. Ayrshire and Arran's health board is included with an £88.2 million boost to its budget, with the total reaching £1.095 billion for 2026/27. An Ayrshire business has launched a petition to ban a dog treat material believed to pose a "serious risk" to pets. What The Pup Ayr posted the appeal last week, calling for a ban on rawhide, or untanned animal skin. The treat material has been linked to choking, blockages and digestive issues. Police appeal for assault and robbery in Largs

Detectives are appealing for information following a recent "violent and distressing" assault and robbery in North Ayrshire.  The incident  took place in Largs on Monday 29 December which saw two males approach a man walking his dog on Nelson Street and robbing him of his mobile phone leaving him needing hospital treatment. Police reappeal for missing Catrine man

Police are reappealing for public assistance in their search for a man who went missing in East Ayrshire earlier this month. Jason Fraser Anderson was last seen in Catrine at around 6pm on Friday 12 December with the force becoming "extremely concerned" for his welfare.
