A popular Ayrshire business says they are “absolutely delighted” after being recognised for their social media presence at a prestigious Scottish awards ceremony.

Tempura picked up the prize for “Social Media Champion” at the Scottish Bar & Pub Awards held at Glasgow’s DoubleTree by Hilton on Tuesday night.

This latest award for the local restaurant and takeaway chain becomes their second of the year after winning the “Best Social Media & Marketing” Award at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards in April.

A spokesperson from the Ayr-based business said they are thankful for the massive efforts shown by everyone involved for a “wee Ayrshire business”.

They said: “A massive thank you to all our amazing staff and customers for your continued support.

“We put a huge amount of time, effort, and creativity into our social media, so to be recognised as the best in Scotland is something we are incredibly proud of.

“From the daft videos and questionable banter to keeping you updated with everything happening across Tempura and Spudbuds, we genuinely love doing it.

“And of course, none of it works without all of you liking, commenting, sharing and getting involved every single day.”

Ayr MSP Siobhan Brown also passed on her congratulations to the business following the recent triumph at the midweek awards in Glasgow.

Tempura has become one of the region’s most successful food and hospitality brands after its founding by partners Brandon Van Rensburg and Mark Blake, with the original Ayr restaurant on Beresford Terrace opening in November 2020.

Their five years in business have seen an expansion of premises across Ayrshire with the openings of Tempura Prestwick 2go in July 2023 and Spudbuds in March 2025.

Further venues include Tempura Troon, launched in April 2024, and, most recently, Spudbuds Irvine earlier this year.
