Expeditions ships spotted at Troon

Two modern expedition cruise ships have been attracting attention in Troon after arriving on the Ayrshire coast this week. The vessels, operated by Aurora Expeditions, are designed for voyages to remote parts of the world including Antarctica and the Arctic. Five Ayrshire golf courses have been recognised among the world’s best in Golf Digest’s World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses for 2026–2027. Trump Turnberry’s famous Ailsa course retained its position as the eighth best course in the world, while Royal Troon Golf Club climbed one place to 27th. New figures released by the National Records of Scotland have revealed the most popular baby names in North Ayrshire for 2025. Luca was the most commonly registered boys’ name locally, given to 11 newborns across the area, as Hudson and Leo followed closely behind. Drongan pair to tackle charity walk

Two Ayrshire men are preparing to take on a 44-mile charity walk this June in support of Ayrshire Cancer Support. John, known locally as “Tucker”, will be joined by Stewart for the challenge which begins in Drongan before passing through Dalrymple, Kirkmichael, Patna, Dalmellington and Cumnock before finishing at the Toll Bar.
