Storm Austen hits Ayrshire

Ayrshire is among the areas affected by a yellow weather warning for heavy rain as Storm Austen moves across Scotland.

The warning came into force this morning (23 October) and is scheduled to remain in place until midnight.

The Met Office has warned that flooding could affect homes and businesses, while spray and standing water may cause problems for drivers.

There is also a risk that flooded roads could cut off some communities, with rail passengers being advised to check services before travelling, as speed restrictions and cancellations are possible on affected routes.
