Police hopes of tackling e-scooter problems

Police are stepping up efforts to tackle problems involving e-bikes and e-scooters in Irvine, with concerns including anti-social behaviour and vehicles being used in connection with criminal offences.

Sergeant Will Thomson outlined the ongoing campaign at a meeting of Irvine Community Council, saying officers are gathering information and have already seized a number of vehicles.

He encouraged members of the public to share information, including anonymously, to help police take further action.

Between 7 September and 7 October, 942 incidents were reported in the Irvine area, with 338 crimes recorded.
