Organisers of the International Ayr Show have expressed their delight at introducing an aircraft to the schedule, which is believed to have a “unmistakeable” sound.
The Festival of Flight taking place in early September will see the Joint Aviation Command Chinook helicopter make an appearance.
The aircraft will join the likes of Red Arrows and Eurofighter Typhoon in entertaining the crowd lining the up along Ayr shorefront next month.
South Ayrshire Council believe this latest addition is a “special” one that is sure to entertain the masses making their way to the coastline.
They said: “We’re excited to announce that the Joint Aviation Command Chinook will pay a visit to the skies at Ayr shore front on both days of the event.
“The helicopter has two sets of rotor blades sitting at the top of the aircraft, which rotate in opposite directions.
“The rotor blades, which enable it to perform advanced manoeuvres, make an unmistakable sound that audiences can hear long before the Chinook is in sight.”
The Chinook is the second-heaviest lifting Western helicopter that aids with operations such as the transportation of troops and casualty evacuation.
The International Ayr show takes place across 4 and 5 September with organisers encouraging the Ayrshire public to keep an eye on their social media for more arial display announcment.
