Venues in Ayrshire are gearing up to welcome punters for Scotland’s vital World Cup encounter against Brazil tonight.

Steve Clarke’s men are only a win or a point away from progressing beyond the group stage for the first time against the four-time world champions.

Businesses in the region are anticipating streams of the Tartan Army watching from home as they prepare to witness a piece of Scottish footballing history unfold.

Venues such as First Edition in Kilmarnock along with Vic and the Vine and Gracie O’Malleys in Prestwick are expecting a large audience for this nail-biting encounter.

This latest fixture is Scotland’s third in the World Cup match in under a fortnight, which has seen the region’s pubs extend  licencing hours to accommodate the time difference from America’s east coast for games against Haiti and Morocco.

In advertising their event, Harleys in Ayr assures that showing the game on the big screen will make it “a night to remember”.

A spokesperson from the Ayr venue said: “We’re opening the doors late and going all the way through the night for this one – expect a proper atmosphere, big screens, and a packed-out venue as we cheer on Scotland

Gracie O’Malleys in Prestwick are offering live music from North Ayrshire based singer Louise Coulter from 7pm in addition to Nick Morgan merchandise and a half time prize giveaway.

Scotland lost out 1-0 to Morocco at the Boston Stadium in Foxborough last Friday in their second game in Group C despite an opening victory against Haiti the previous week.

A point at least would be enough for Clarke’s team to advance as one of the best third-placed teams among the likes of Sweden and Croatia in other groups.

Kick off tonight is at 11pm.
