Second Discovery Award group launch

A second Discovery Award group has now been launched in Kilwinning after growing demand from local residents aged over 50.

The programme, which meets at Kilwinning Library, supports people looking to build confidence, meet new friends and take part in community activities and volunteering.

The Discovery Award is supported by North Ayrshire Council and includes challenges linked to volunteering, hobbies, wellbeing and social activities.

Members have taken part in trips across Scotland, fundraising events, self-defence workshops and community volunteering projects.

Councillor Marie Burns said the success of the original group showed just how valuable the programme has become for local people.
