The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind across Ayrshire this weekend, resulting in potential “danger to life” conditions.

The warning has been put in place from 6pm tonight until midday on Sunday which could see gusts reach peak highs of 60 miles per hour.

Coastal areas have been pointed out as parts where “injuries and danger to life” could occur as a result of large waves and debris on the seafronts.

Incidents such as building damage, rail and road disruptions, and bridge closures have also been listed  as to what can occur as Storm Dave sweeps across the nation.

The Met Office, who have labelled the upcoming conditions as “dangerous”, has given advice on how locals in the region can keep safe in this period.

A spokesperson from the weather service said: “Being outside in high winds makes you more vulnerable to injury. Stay indoors as much as possible.

“Don’t risk injury to others or damage to your property. If you live or work on the coast, take extra care during windy and stormy weather.

“Keep yourself and others safe by checking the forecasts and tides in your local area  and beware of waves from the shore. Large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to seas.”

Slow driving when travelling and keeping your dogs on a lead whilst out walking in coastal areas has also been advised during the storm.

Anyone in the region that finds themselves caught up in an emergency is urged to contact 999, and ask for the Coastguard.
