North Ayrshire schools to get longer October break

School holidays across North Ayrshire are set for a significant change from the 2027/28 academic year following a consultation involving parents, pupils and staff. South Ayrshire funding boost secured

South Ayrshire Council has secured £163,101 from the Scottish Government’s Coastal Communities Fund for 2025/26, with ministers also confirming long-term funding support through to 2032/33. The funding will continue to support projects in coastal towns and villages. The group, made up of more than 20 local men, completed the challenge for a range of personal reasons but came together to support the children’s cancer respite charity based in Alloway. Irvine bar in World Cup charity mission
