The Scottish Baker of the Year Awards 2026 shortlist has been revealed, and an Ayrshire bakery are “very pleased” to be in the running.
Kilmarnock-based Fergusons Bakery will be among 48 others throughout the nation competing for the top prize at the awards night in May.
Wednesday 25 March saw a “rigorous” judging process of each bakeries’ items at Dunfermline’s Carnegie Conference and Events Centre, with Scottish Bakers labelling contenders as “local heroes”.
Fergusons, based in Glencairn Industrial Estate, believes this opportunity of claiming a top prize next month is down to “hard working people”.
In praising all those shortlisted for the awards on social media, Scottish Bakers said: “We are delighted to announce the different bakeries which have been shortlisted ahead of the Scottish Baker of the Year Awards night in May.
“This year’s judging showcased he incredibly high standard of baking in Scotland. Congratulations to all the Local Heroes and Icons shortlisted, a fantastic achievement and well-deserved recognition.”
Beth Brownings, Brownings, and Irvines in Beith are further Ayrshire bakeries to have made this years shortlist.
Fergusons offer products from morning rolls to fruit scones which can be found in stores across the region.
Their last recognised award was the “Best Regional Bronze” for their biscuits and becoming a Wholesale Bakery finalist in 2022.
The awards ceremony for Scottish Baker of the Year takes place on 16 May at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.
