Fire crews worked through the night to pump water out of Caledonia Care Home in Saltcoats after severe flooding during Storm Boelo on Sunday 25 October.

The Sidney Street home was hit by a deluge as high winds and tides caused flooding across the area, with shops and businesses in Saltcoats town centre also suffering significant damage.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted at around 5.20pm on Sunday to reports of floodwater approximately four feet deep, which restricted access to the premises.

A fire appliance, high-volume pump and water rescue unit were mobilised, with pumping operations continuing to remove large volumes of water.

Police Scotland confirmed that everyone inside the care home had been accounted for, with efforts focused on ensuring their safety.
