Shire Housing Association has warned tenants in Patna about apparent bogus callers asking for access to properties to carry out a supposed five-minute risk assessment linked to kitchen and bathroom work.

Shire says it has not instructed any company to carry out surveys of this type.

The housing association says the person involved may be showing a piece of paper bearing the Shire logo, but genuine contractors carry ID badges and should show them before requesting access.

Residents are being urged to check identification and report suspicious activity to police.
